We found the cruise ship pier in San Diego on Friday morning, October 23rd, 2009. Our ship, Holland America’s Zaandam was moored next to Celebrity’s Mercury. Unfortunately, we could not get a good picture of the Zaandam as it was on the far side of the cruise terminal. The boarding process went very smooth and quick – which is nice. Before long we were on board the ship and ready to start our high seas and Hawaiian adventure. We spent the first evening on the ship exploring and enjoying our stateroom and balcony.
It took four and a half days at sea to go from San Diego to the Hawaiian islands. During this time we continued to explore the ship, enjoy activities (such as Bingo, shows and the casino), and even wrote some thank you notes for wedding presents. We ate like kings and enjoyed a leisurely lifestyle for several days.
