Once we left Kona, we realized our honeymoon adventure and Hawaiian expedition was coming toward the end. As the ship sailed around the big island, we passed by the Volcanoes National Park where the lava tubes meet the ocean… and this was an awesome sight to see – even at night. It looked as though the mountainside was covered in a plethora of camp fires and where land met sea, there was a large plume of fire that would grow and ebb and the steam and smoke made a constant cloud. The captain even slowed down the ship and drew in fairly close to give everyone a better view. I would have paid money for an excursion in the tender boats to get even closer – it was amazing. And that was the lat bit of land we saw, the fire from the lava meeting the ocean slowly faded into darkness.
Then we had four more days at sea before arriving in Ensenada. During this time we finally made it to the craps table in the casino, saw a couple more shows in the lounge, and enjoyed the string quartet that played each evening. We also finally had to say our good byes to our favortie bartender, Ron and his partner Rodel (they were from the Phillipines). And also to our dining room stewards – Lelono (Nono) and Ganjar who are from Indonesia, and our dining room wine steward, Maurice (Phillipines).
